Evening Roundup: Captain, oh captain!

Words:

- Go check out Prague-based Irish poet Justin Quinn at this month’s Alchemy reading series at the Globe (
Pštrossová 6). Quinn has had an excellent poem published in um, you know, the New Yorker. Starts at 8 p.m., followed by an open mike. Only takes place once a month and everyone will think you're all intellectual for going to a poetry reading.

Happy Hour:

-Since you’re going there anyway, why not show up a bit early and take advantage of the Globe’s happy hour, from 5-7 p.m. Half price cocktails, 25 Kc beers, 30 Kc wine and 5 Kc chicken wings. Pštrossová 6, Prague 1.

Music:

-Scottish pop tends to deliver. I’ve never heard of The Cinematics but would imagine they’re not too shabby, and going up to Klub 007 (Chaloupeckého 7) always makes for a fun break from my usual radius of action in Prague 2. Doors are at 8, entry is 280 Kč at the door, 220 if tickets are purchased before. Support by the Czech group Rara Avis.

Trivia:

-Monday nights are trivia nights at the Czech Inn (Francouzská 76). Starts at 8 p.m. Bring pens and brains.

Movies:

-Personally, the Iraq war drama “The Hurt Locker” would be my best bet tonight. It shows at Světozor at 8 p.m., tickets are 100 Kč
